Jude,
True more information is on the screen than just the station frequency, but
IMO having the station accessible is a good start.
I haven't read the whole thread here, but I thought someone said that the
sparc hd radio spoke the station frequencies.
I have a regular stereo radio, and its quite hard to turn the stations as I
cannot tell where I am. There is often no station between some frequencies,
so many times as I press the buttons, I hear static. It was easier to turn
stations with the wheels they had on older radios.
I'd love to have a talking hd or regular radio someday so I know what
station I'm at. I can only tell now by waiting for the announcer to say the
station or guessing by the genre played or using my little vision to squint
at the screen.
You all have good points that failing to read everything on screen is not
complete accessibility, but I think some talking features is better than
none.
Ashley

For hd radios, if I have this right more visual information becomes
available on screens/displays than just the current station frequency.
Earlier weather information and traffic updates were mentioned. I
suspect some advertisers will only put contact information on that
screen that isn't spoken as is so often done on TV advertisements. With
a bluetooth or infrared interface and a paired device, such information
could be sent out over those interfaces as well.
