Hi, Robin.  Glad I could be of help.

As for your questions regarding soundbars, I don't like them in general 
because there aren't separate speakers for proper stereo effect.  I'm 
still using the Bose CineMate built in 2005.  It has RCA jacks for the 
interface, not even a digital uptical cable.  Had to get an adapter to 
make it work.  Sorry I can't help you with Soundbarrs.  Oh, almost 
forgot, I do have a soundbar hooked up to another TV in my house.  Made 
by Bose.  While it requires its own separate remote, it's very simple: 
Power, Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute, all in descending order from 
the top of a rectangular remote.  If you like soundbars, this one might 
work.  Like good things though, probably discontinued.  Will pass along 
the model number, though.
