[Electronics-Talk] New TV

I think the big thing with these smart tv's is that you connect to your
WiFi. And then if those tv's have the various apps on board, you can watch
the tv shows or movies via electing and hitting enter on them. Some things
are free, some are free with commercials. And the big thing now is the
corporate competition between the studios and licensing, getting people to
subscribe to the various streaming platforms.

I just read a big article on CNET over the weekend that evaluated, reviewed
in good detail each of those streaming services. It is a real tricky thing.

I spent some time copying the text on it, and stripping out the web page ads
and grabbing some of the links provided, if someone wants it send me an
email and I'll share it.
But it is all here to do the work yourself. Here is a link to that article:

I am currently still a DirecTV subscriber of many years. Last time when I
approached the DirecTV ATT support on there offerings, they said that they
don't have plan or a way to provide Audio Description. And some of the very
same program episodes of shows that I enjoy do have description available, I
am feeling forced to migrate to all streaming. If anyone knows differently,
I'd love to hear about it.
I would really prefer to just keep the tradition of going to channels rather
than this system of navigating over the apps. But oh well. I think I am
fast becoming a complaining old bum not too much unlike Archie Bunker, minus
the racism and other prejudicial aspects of him, I hope.

ACB sure has become a very good and useful source for us, as they are
supporting and tracking the various sources for Audio Description. Here is a
link to that page:

Lots going on in this arena. And if we still had a lot of radio, I'd
probably just abandon television. But that has been greatly compromised to
as to content, thank you feds and corporate suits.

Hang in there, gang. And happy new year all.

I have a Samsung smart TV. And I can actually watch TV on there without
connecting it to cable. you can watch movies and TV shows on there for
free.
