The Trial of Jesus

So on to the trial of Jesus if you can call it a trial since a trial is
about justice and this was about a religious community and culture that
put
man ahead of God. It was like a ?Jewish Jihad? against the Messiah they
claimed to be seeking.

This is not an Anti-Semitic statement. Jesus and his followers were of
course Jewish too, but these leaders were religious leaders but not Godly
men. Their passion appears to be about protecting their little cultural
kingdoms and their own agendas and NOT the agenda of God.

So what do you do when you have a fixed trial? Bring in some witnesses..
I
mean any witnesses as long as they have something bad to say about Jesus.

These witnesses were just part of the drama, but the decision to condemn
Jesus was made long before this night, but they added to the drama worthy
of
a first century episode of Law & Order.

Then to help frenzy the mood, there were those over the top demonstrative
moments by a few priests who were needing some attention.

More dramatic than a TV Evangelist running after pounding down 3 red-bull
energy drinks.

More dramatic than a US Senator on his soap box officiating hearings over
steroid use in baseball under the guise of protecting the sovereign game
of
baseball, truth, justice and a slice of apple pie.

This trial, this foolish act of selfish man was a prelude into Good
Friday
when Jesus was crucified. Amazingly, this is all a part of God's plan of
grace in the face of injustice. Jesus knew this was the day of his
crucifixion, and Jesus willingly gave his life this day as a sacrifice of
love for a sinful world.

To be honest, this kind of love where the creator of this world sends His
only son to die for his creation does not fully register in my mind. It is
easier sometimes for me to grasp God created this world than it is to
realize His love for this world would be demonstrated with his personal
involvement from the very beginning. Hard to fathom, but I believe it is
true.

May God bless this Easter season to each of us impressing on our hearts
the
amazing Passion of Jesus Christ. May this be the most real Easter season
of
our lives and the starting point to greater blessings and service for the
God we love.
