A family had a Thanksgiving tradition of letting the
children each take a turn saying the dinner blessing. There were four
prayers in all at this particular meal. The first three prayers went by
quickly with thanks given for grandparents, moms and dads, brothers and
sisters, friends, and the like.

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually
offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his
name.
                        --Hebrews 13:15

When it was the last and youngest child's turn to pray, the
five-year-old took a deep breath and began to pray. He thanked God for the
sun, for the earth, for the moon, and stars. He thanked the Lord for birds
and dirt, for his dog, and for his swing set.

Some of the children who were a little older giggled a little
as the boy kept praying.

The boy continued giving thanks to the Lord for his
kindergarten teacher. He thanked the Lord for the missionaries that he
heard about in Sunday school.

Family members began to peek at the boy and at each other
from across the dinner table with smiles on their faces and hints of tears
in their eyes.

And just when it seemed someone might have to intervene, the
boy said, "And dear Lord, I almost forgot, thank you for You. Amen."

And with full hearts, all the family joined him in giving
thanks.

We can learn a lot from this little guy's enthusiasm for
God's blessings. Are you full and running over with gratitude for God's
blessings?

            Prayer Challenge
Thank the Lord right now for His wonderful blessings! And ask
Him to help you be a blessing to those around you.
