well, either educate them and make accomodations. Like for instance, many
church hymnals come in braille, if you read braille; you could probably get
news like your sunday bulletin in email. Or find a new church. What a
terrible attitude that
the pastor has. Also if you give specifics, maybe we'll have suggestions.
Unfortunately, some people assume we cannot participate or enjoy something
due to the visuals, but we can with a description or another accomodation.
They just don't know that though. Like many people say, oh how can you enjoy
a movie or play? They don't know those can be audio described and some
films/plays are already descriptive enough via dialogue to follow them.

Also, I suggest if you felt this way a while to get some help. Perhaps some
counseling would help you feel better. Talk therapy, or psychotherapy, helps
many people feel better.

Subject: [Faith-talk] feeling like i am not important

Hi all

I am just feeling some what discourraged to night and things.

I been feeling like i am not really important to anybody at all.

I am just struggling reguarding my church One of my pastors told me
that everything is visual and he just said there is nothing for me i
can even do because of the visual stuff in church and things.

I just feel like i get treated so differently because of my blindness
and things I am sick of being blind I am sick of being held back by
others I been feeling like I been told to just sit back and do
nothing.
I just feel like i don't really belong anywhere because of the way
the blind get treated.

My church really does not give me the chance to use my gifts and
tallents and things.
