Hello and good evening to you all, at least those residing in the western hemisphere. For those of you across the pond, to quote a favorite expression of those in the UK and/or Ireland, you're in the middle of the night unless, of course, you're a night owl. And for those in Australia and New Zealand, well, you're in your afternoon. At any rate, I hope all of our days are going well. For those of us in North America, our day is about to end, but before it does, the undersigned wishes to post a good night message wherever in this vast continent one lives.

Our inspirational word this evening come from the pen of Edna Jaques. Her contribution this evening is entitled "Slice of Life," and it reminds all of us to be thankful every day, not on a particular day of the year. You all probably know this, but thought to mention it now. Anyway here are her words. Be blessed as you read and ponder her thoughts.

Not for the mighty world, O Lord, tonight,
Nations and kingdoms in their fearful might,
Let me be glad the kettle gently sings,
Let us be thankful just for little things.

Thankful for simple food and supper spread,
Thankful for shelter and a warm, clean bed,
For little joyful feet that gladly run
To welcome me when the day's work is done.

Thankful for friends who share my joy and mirth,
Glad for the warm, sweet fragrance of the earth,
For golden pools of sunlight on the floor,
For peace that bends above my cottage door.

For little friendly days that slip away
With only meals and bed and work and play,
A rocking chair and kindly firelight:
For little things, let us be glad tonight.

I personally think that Sister Edna's poem really hits the nail on the head. And, in the remembrance of our personal thanks, let's not forget to thank God for His ultimate provision, namely the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for us those many years ago. Don't forget that, if it weren't for Him and our heavenly Father, that the things mentioned in the poem above would not be possible to give thanks for.

And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep you safe throughout the night and especially in these last days in which we live. This is the ardent and sincere desire of your Christian brother, Paul.
