Well folks, here in North America we've come to the end of another September 10 for another year. Wonder what this date will bring with it next year in 2013? Well, the Lord knows, but he isn't telling. And maybe that's a good thing because, if we had an inkling of what next year will bring, I suppose many, if not most, of us just might panic. In fact Jesus Himself made a reference to that when He said in Matthew 6:34 that "Each day has enough troubles of its own." So, let's not worry about tomorrow, as He has it under His control. I know that, from our human perspective, that it doesn't seem like He has, but not only does He have everything under control but, in one place in the book of Proverbs, it is written that man can make his own plans but, without the Lord's say-so, they cannot be realized.
Anyway how was your day today? Mine was good, by God's matchless grace and His providential care. Am thankful for the cooler weather here in the mid-Atlantic region of our country.
Jessie Meade of Eucha OK contributed today's poem for our reading. Entitled "Typical Housewife," it is rendered as follows:
Early every morning
When I awake,
I go to the kitchen,
My bread to bake.
Then I go ahead
With the rest of my chores,
Making beds, washing dishes
And mopping the floors.
I have the upkeep of six rooms,
And do I ever wear out the brooms!
My greatest pride and joy
Is our three girls and four boys.
The greatest enjoyment
I get out of this world,
Going to church with my husband,
Our boys and our girls.
I do my own washing, ironing
And my rugs I knit;
For my work, I just can't quit.
But sometimes with my work
I get behind
Because, you see,
I am totally blind.
And that concludes the poetry I have from back issues of Christian Record Talking Magazine. Maybe some of you in Oklahoma have heard of Mrs. Jessie Meade of Eucha. She probably has gone home to be with her Lord by now.
And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively, throughout this night or day and especially in these last days in which we live. Your Christian friend and brother, Paul
