Hi
I agree, we have small groups called common ground and people are encouraged 
to start one if there isn't one for their needs so they include things like 
bowling, fiction writers, knitters, Maureen

Unfortunattly churches can be like any other social organisation, many of
the groups with in the church are brought together through common intrests
that have nothing to do with being a Christian. At our Church we have alot
of milatary, outdoorsmen and traditional stay at home moms, but within all
of that we have everything else, but if you were a real fishermen kind of
guy with a bunch of knowledge about camping, or served in the milatary you
would probably have so many invatations to fellowship that you wouldn't know
what to do. The point of this observation is to point out that not all
Churches have the groups of people that we can relate to so much,
unfortunatly. I knew a guy who was put out by a church after a couple years
because he never made any in roads, but after asking alot of questions I
came to find out that that church was comprised of families who had known
one another for many generations and had deep ties to one another when it
came to memmories, holiday traditions and so on, on top of that, they were
all white outdoorsy folks who hunted and fished and he was a small middle
age asian guy who was more or less looking for a wife when it came down to
it. For what ever reason he wanted to be excepted at that church and no
other church and it caused him to go into a terrible depression.
