[Faith-talk] update on my friend in Iowa

I agree. This is one of the most insensitive comments I have
seen on an NFB list.
RJ, have you ever been bullied before? Have you ever been
belittled and treated like you don't really matter? You've
probably been discriminated against somehow because you are
blind. If the answer is yes, that you have been bullied, then
you should feel nothing but pity for Nick.
I too think that what Beth is doing is wonderful. There are not
enough people like her in this world. You should be furious
about Nick's situation and ashamed at yourself for thinking these
thoughts.
I usually don't respond to comments such as this, but having been
bullied before, and the fact that I want to help others and make
their lives change for the better, I just couldn't resist.
Grow up!
Vejas

Rj, what gives you the right to tell her what to do. Unsubscribe
if
you want to. David Andrews and I call the shots on this list,
not
you. I' allowing it because it's advocacy. You could just
delete the
messages relating to it before you open and read them.
If you were in Nick's place, wouldn't you want someone to
advocate
for you so that maybe your situation could change for the better?
You're supposed to be a pastor; act like one, then.
Regards,
Linda

Dear List,
I have several updates on Nick. Nick and I and our friends
talked
last night, and this is his situation: he cannot have a private
conversation with me without being slapped with punishment by the
parents/guardians or staff at the group home. HE is also not
allowed an iphone, and the guardians plan to lessen his
independence. Nick says he wants me to fight even though his
friends are saying that me fighting to get him out in a better
place is fruitless. Well, I'm going to win this fight. If
anyone
wants to message me privately about my petition, the email is at
the bottom of the letter. Please, keep praying. I will put this
in the De Moines Register, and I'm about to go all out in a media
campaign to expose what's going on in group homes in this
country. It's reminding me of puppy mills, America's shameful
but
best kept secret. Disabled people are treated like children or
puppies, and the puppies and their "lives" are at stake. I am
determined to get this place busted for even allowing this to
happen. Keep the faith, my friends.
