[Faith-talk] Church experiences

My church is far from perfect, but even the sighted people have
transportation problems because our parking lot is small. One woman picks
up several people. I come on the bus, but she takes me home. She is giving
very generously of her time. It is more than a "help the handicapped"
thing.

Also, I am concerned about a person who can change their religion so easily
just because another group appears welcoming. All religious groups make
demands on you. It is expected that you will either grow in your faith (if
it is an honest religion) or submit your whole life to the group (if it is a
cult).

It is easy to get Bibles and some good commentaries and study the Bible on
your own. You can gain some respect by being a good Bible student if your
church is any good. I can promise that many of your sighted colleagues are
lazy about their Bible study, possibly because it is so easy for them. We
have many blessings today that some of us did not have when we were growing
up. Bookshare, Optasia, and Bible Gateway are all good sources of
information. I thank God that faith cometh by hearing, and that our beliefs
are text-based and accessible to the blind.
