[Faith-talk] {Spam?} The Purpose of This List

Hi all,

Well, time was when a lot of blind people were not able to
participate in the ministries of their communities of faith,
either because they couldn't get materials in an accessible
format, they weren't wanted, they were set aside and told that
they could just come and be ministered to, and the like. Some
were, and still are told that the leaders do not want any
handicapped people in their congregations. The division, and
hence this list, were formed to help folks out there. We don't
hear about things like that so much any more, but our president
does on occasion.

The original intent was that the dvvision and the list would be
open to anyone of any faith. However, the membership in both is
mostly Christian because people of other faiths have not
participated.

I have no idea where Muslim materials for the blind can be found.
The question has never been asked, partly because Muslims don't
interact here, most likely.

What can we talk about? I'm not sure, now that David seems to be
unhappy with our discussions. I'm really going to have a problem
moderating, and being a part of a list where questions about the
Bible cannot be asked and answered, and we can't post prayer
requests occasionally. That's been a lot of what we do here
lately, and it has benefited many. After all, that's a big part
of the discussion of faith and religion.

I don't know what David means by "splitting hairs". I hope he
doesn't mean that we can't tell people how the Bible says we
should live, since most of us believe that Bible and read it
regulary, and worship the God who inspired it.

Now I'm going back to bed so that I can hopefully be refreshed
and alert to worship that God!

Blessings,

Linda
