Hi, Shikha.

I assume that you are still living at home. It may be helpful to talk to your parrents about the mentoring opportunities that are available to you at the NFB convention. You will have opportunities to meet blind people who are employed in all kinds of careers, learn new skills that you can use in the future as you apply for jobs and internships, etc. There are also presentations about new technology and legislation that will help you to have knowledge you need to advocate for yourself.

And, you still have time to apply for the Jernigan scholarship if you have never been to a convention. But you need to hurry--the deadline is in just a few days.

Subject: [Faith-talk] National convention

Hey,
I have good grades, and this summer i was looking for a summer internship but I didn't get it. I am still looking, but I would rather go to convention. I was wondering how to tell my parents that i want to attend national convention. I have flied in the past to convention but I don't know how expensive the flight will be. Have you guys had experience with having a free summer. I am probably going to volunteer and take one class. I live in Georgia. By car it is six hours. Is mega bus or train safe to get to Orlando?
How do you guys stand up for something like convention or stand up for your faight.
Thanks,
Shikha.
