It could be your 'timeout' setting. If you increase this, Outlook will
take longer sending files before it terminates the send operation.
Try this in your  settings;
Go to Tools then E-mail Accounts then Next.
Select your account, go to Change, then More Settings.
On the Advanced tab is where you should be able to find the timeout value.
Increase it to at least double what the present value is, close Outlook
and restart it, then see if there's any difference. If you see a
difference but not enough for your larger files, double the value again
and restart.
If this works, keep these directions because Microsoft may reset your
settings again during an update.
Not to rule out malware, but Microsoft has a nasty habit of resetting
some customized settings back to default or even changing some former
default settings 'for a more optimized operation' after some program and
operating system updates. Microsoft always thinks they know your
particular system and needs better than you do so they're always finding
ways to fiddle with them to make things 'better'. That's not the reason
I quit using Microsoft but it's the exact reason my wife quit Microsoft.

No Microsoft garbage used here, sent by a very satisfied Linux-Mint
<http://www.linuxmint.com/> user (a former disgruntled Microsoft user).
You could check out Vinux, Linux for the visually impaired
<http://wiki.vinuxproject.org/>.
This email and any attachments are not virus scanned either, that's up
to you poor Microsoft users to deal with.
