[GUI-Talk] "Open Parent Document"

Lloyd,

As Allen says, I have also seen this when opening a document from within a web browser. If it is being opened within a browser or even some other application, one option that usually exists is to save the PDF file. After saving it, she might have better luck opening it directly with adobe. I know that this is mostly what Allen already said, I am just adding the specific possibility that the file can be saved locally eliminating the need to locate it in some other way. Saving can default to a different location than downloading.

When this has happened to me, I have experimented with many Adobe settings but have never been able to find a setting that fixes this. On the other hand, I have sometimes found that opening the same PDF on another computer works fine even from inside a browser. That tells me that either I am missing a setting or that there might be system settings that affect this.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Subject: [GUI-Talk] "Open Parent Document"

my wife Judy uses the AWARE case management system for her job as a rehab
counsellor in Maryland. When she needs to print a plan or some other case
notes to PDF, she cannot find the PDF document, and only an "open parent
document" button pops up, which has no noticeable effect. AWARE is a
web-based application, and she is using it with JAWS 2020 and Internet
Explorer 11. Any ideas?
