Tom Anderson has been a member of the National Federation of the Blind since 1971. A native of Greenbush, Minnesota, Tom joined the Minnesota affiliate of the Federation when he was a client of the Minneapolis Society for the Blind. He attended his first national convention of the NFB in 1974. In 1975, while attending his second national convention in Chicago, Tom met a young lady from Kansas, named Linda Carpenter. They were married a year later and moved to Kansas where they lived for 11 years. Tom was a founding staff member of the Colorado Center for the Blind, teaching Braille there for 27 years. Tom is currently director two on the NFB of Kansas board.
