Several months ago I forwarded a message calling for support in dealing with a series of murders of people with albinism in East Africa.  Recently the press has carried a number of stories about this horrifying situation, which appears to be well-documented with photographs and firsthand accounts.  Below is another call for action from Under the Same Sun, an albinism organization based in Canada.

You are receiving this email and Press Release because you have previously signed the Under The Same Sun petition. 

On August 6/09, this Press Release was sent to thousands of journalists resulting in immediate interviews and citations by CBS News, Reuters and The National Post. 

In it, PETER ASH protests about the Tanzanian Court's decision to drop on-going cases against alleged murderers of albinos.   The reason cited by the Tanzanian Courts for this action is "lack of funds"!! 

For your information, Under The Same Sun is returning to Tanzania in September.    Therefore please: 

1)  Promote the Petition at www.underthesamesun.com as much as possible to your friends, colleagues, relatives - anyone whom you think will sign against these murders.   The hard-copy petition will be taken again and given to the Tanzanian Government - with all signatures since the petition began in 2008. 

2)  Forward/email our Petition and Press Release to any media outlets in your local area. 

3)  Contact your local government officials making them aware of this genocide and asking them to contact/pressure the Tanzanian Government to resume the court trials. 

NB:  Please note that we have modified this Press Release by removing actual photographs of a Tanzanian albino child's mutilated body.  However, the exact Press Release sent to the media last week is available at www.underthesamesun.com - with a distinct content warning attached.
