This position will work under the general supervision of the Program & Facility Coordinator at Zanewood Recreation Center. This position will assist with developing positive programs and partnerships with community organizations to increase opportunities for teens/youth to participate in positive leisure time activities that provide safe and supervised activities for teens.  This position will work with the Youth Services Manager to create, implement and enhance youth engagement and public art opportunities for youth in the City's civic and social infrastructure.

This position is critical to the city's goal of bringing youth in need and disengaged youth and families into structured mobile recreation activities designed to positively impact teen and youth development and reduce youth crime and victimization in the community.  This position will assist in providing leadership in the development, operation and delivering programs in an outreach capacity in surrounding park and school facilities in a manner which will assure high quality safe public use and promote and schedule activities consistent with Department goals and objectives.

The Intern will work with the Economic Development & Housing team, a motivated and active staff, and learn how development and redevelopment is done in a large suburban city.  The Intern will have the opportunity to assist on several projects including assessing business assistance programs in the region, gathering data about apartments in the City, and creating plans and ideas for new events geared toward the City's business community. The Intern's work can vary based on their particular interests, including various aspects of housing, business development, planning, research and analysis, and/or program administration.
