Position responsible to direct and manage Human Resources (HR) services for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) so that the agency has the workforce capacity to achieve its strategic goals. This position is responsible for aligning the capabilities of the workforce to the agency's objectives while taking in to account legal and ethical considerations, best practices, and delegated responsibilities in the State of Minnesota's merit system.

HR is responsible for strategic talent acquisition, assessment and selection, job evaluation and classification, total compensation (including benefits administration), workers' compensation administration, employee and labor relations, leave management, organizational development, workforce and succession planning, general employee training and development, performance management (including discipline and discharge), investigations, HR information systems, personnel transactions and records maintenance, employment related grievances and lawsuits, and compliance in all HR related functions.
