In this position you will assist the Regional Human Resource Director in administering the human resource responsibilities of the region, that consists of: consulting and training facility managers and supervisors in the administration of labor agreements, staffing, performance management, compensation, workers compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and investigations at MCF - Faribault.

Job responsibilities include:

  *   Reviewing investigations into claims of Respectful Workplace, conduct employee misconduct investigative inquiries within Rush City and advise appointing authority on appropriate action steps.
  *   Providing professional and technical expertise, interpretation and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees on labor/employee relations issues in the implementation and administration of collective bargaining agreements/plans so that management rights are protected, and labor relations are effective.
  *   Providing lead work direction to Human Resource staff at the facility assigned permanently, as well as backup within the region so that operations are continuous and of high quality at all times.
  *   Presenting training programs for facility managers and supervisors on various topics such as labor agreement provisions; managing sick leave; Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), performance management, grievance handling, managing overtime, administration of Memorandum of Understandings, etc.
  *   Collaborating with HR Staffing colleagues, provide consultation to facility managers and supervisors on staffing including recruitment, vacancy-filling, job classification, and Correctional Employees Retirement Plan (CERP) coverage so that positions are filled in a timely and sound manner.
  *   Assisting in coordination and participating in requests for reasonable accommodations during pre-employment or employment activities. Provide backup for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration, ADA, workers' compensation and non-work-related injuries, and other leave of absences to ensure compliance with state statutes, federal law, contractual obligations and employment-related policies.

This position will have the option of working a hybrid telework schedule.

This vacancy is being announced at two different job classification levels: Human Resources Specialist 1 and Specialist 2. Only one position will be filled and the final job classification of the position will be determined based on the selected finalist's qualifications.
