Do you want to change lives and show people what is possible if they are blind? Do you love to teach, inspire, and motivate students no matter their age to reach their full potential in using Access Technology skills? The Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired<https://www.vrcbvi.virginia.gov/default.htm> has openings for 2 Access Technology Instructors.

Working in a residential rehabilitation center environment has much to offer students as well as instructors. As an instructor you will have the opportunity to work with your students daily and observe their progress. You will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with a dynamic team of professionals who believe in the capacity of blind individuals to learn skills of blindness and to gain confidence that will empower them to live the lives they have imagined.

VRCBVI is located in Richmond, Virginia. For a small city, Richmond is known for its vibrant cultural landscape, from its blossoming art and music scenes to its booming craft beer scene. Numerous award-winning restaurants call Richmond home, and everyone loves Carytown, otherwise known as the "Mile of Style." You will also want to check out great museums. Its central location makes it convenient and easy to get to most of the biggest cities on the east coast. Living in Richmond will have you a couple of hours from the mountains and skiing and from the ocean. It is the perfect location. There's a good reason locals swear that it can't be beat.
Fun and Unique Facts about Richmond:
1: Richmond is known for good food
Virginia's capital has long been a destination for good eats. However, in recent years, the dining scene has sizzled its way onto the national stage, due largely to its ability to lure top chefs with lower rents and the veritable buffet of culturally unique culinary concepts that continue to win people-and palates-over in every way possible.
2: The James River's claim to fame is that it has the only Class IV white water rapids in a major US city. The classification is for long, difficult rapids which require complex maneuvering.
3: Canned beer made its debut in Richmond. On Jan. 24, 1935, the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company delivered 2,000 cans of beer and cream ale to the river city.
4: Everyone's favorite poet grew up in Richmond
Admittedly, Edgar Allen Poe might not be everyone's favorite poet. But you can't deny how he uniquely put the "Poe" in poetry. Not only does the Edgar Allen Poe Museum house many of his works and some of his personal effects, it's also considered one of the oldest buildings in Richmond.
5: The fashionable Jefferson Hotel used to have live alligators. Up until the late 1940s, it was home to several live alligators. Many of these alligators had taken up residence in the Palm Court lobby following a fire that destroyed much of the structure in 1901. Over time, more gators were generously donated by guests and community members who had brought gators home from Florida but quickly discovered they grew too big to be kept as pets. The last alligator to live in the hotel's marble pools died in 1948. Today, guests are greeted at the entrance by bronze gator statues.
6: Several movies and television shows have been filmed in Richmond, including "Homeland," and "Lincoln." In "My Dinner with Andre," the titular dinner was filmed in the ballroom of the Jefferson Hotel.
7: People love living here
Richmond been called the "Best U.S. Historical Destination" and was at the head of Forbes Magazine's list of top cities for up-and-coming entrepreneurs. It's also received "top" distinctions in several other categories, including cities to see Christmas lights, cities for celebrating the Fourth of July, and many others. With all these accolades, it's really no surprise people call it one of the best places to live.
