This position provides professional human resources level consulting, analysis, project leadership and training services to managers, supervisors and employees of the Minnesota Zoo in the areas of talent acquisition, classification and compensation, labor relations, contract administration, employee relations, employment law, policy/procedure interpretation, and other human resources functions. This position serves as the MN Zoo's Affirmative Action Officer Designee and ADA Title I Coordinator Designee and represents the Zoo on human resource matters when the HR Director is unavailable.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1.  Provide talent acquisition services to managers and supervisors ensuring hiring needs are met within established time frames, State policies and guidelines and Zoo procedures.
  2.  Serve as the MN Zoo Affirmative Action Officer Designee and American with Disabilities Act Title I Coordinator Designee ensuring compliance with and monitoring of State and Zoo Affirmative Action and ADA regulations, policies and procedures.
  3.  Provide employment law and labor relations services to managers, supervisors and employees so that employment related conflicts are resolved in a timely manner and the Zoo is in compliance with all related laws, bargaining unit agreements, personnel plans, policies and procedures.
  4.  Provide talent management services to managers and supervisors ensuring appropriate organizational structures and staffing to meet work area needs and job classification in accordance with State standards.
  5.  Continuously review, simplify and streamline human resource processes ensuring HR processes deliver timely results in compliance with all laws, regulations and bargaining agreements and personnel plans.
  6.  Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
