1. VRC 4 in training – Tacoma – questions to Bianca and/or me As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 4 (VRC4) at DSB, your primary objective is to empower and support individuals who are Blind, Deaf Blind, and Low Vision, many of whom face additional disabilities, in achieving greater independence and securing stable employment. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a facilitator in identifying and securing essential rehabilitation services to facilitate participants' success in attaining independence and employment. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of professionals, working within a multi-disciplinary vocational rehabilitation and independent living framework to deliver comprehensive rehabilitation services to visually impaired and blind adults. As a VRC4, your exceptional counseling skills will shine as you adeptly address the unique rehabilitation needs of your caseload. Additionally, you will play a vital role in training other professional staff, both locally and at the statewide level, as the need arises, contributing to the ongoing success of our mission to promote independence and stable employment for individuals with visual impairments.
2. VRS – Senior in Training (O&M) combined posting for both Yakima and Vancouver – questions to Bianca (Vancouver), Tina (Yakima), and/or me As a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist - Senior, your role will involve analyzing and evaluating the adaptive skills of individuals with Blindness, Deaf-Blindness, and Low Vision to enhance their daily living activities and employment readiness. You will serve as a subject matter expert in Rehabilitation Teaching, Orientation & Mobility, employing cutting-edge technologies and training methods to support both current and future participants and employers. Your responsibilities will include recommending and contributing to curriculum development, implementing training methodologies, and ensuring compliance with Section 508 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in recruiting, assessing, and managing vendors offering specialized adaptive rehabilitation training. This position will also require you to establish program standards for Low Vision Evaluations, oversee budgets for Low Vision Labs and Adaptive Tools, and provide adaptive education to various stakeholders, including businesses, participants, community partners, and employers.
3. Pre-ETS Program Specialist (Vancouver) – questions to Matt Hines and/or me As a Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Specialist with DSB's Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting Blind, Deaf Blind, and Low Vision students aged 14-21 in their journey towards meaningful employment. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you'll utilize exceptional communication and case management skills to address the specialized rehabilitation needs of these individuals. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and delivering comprehensive career exploration services, facilitating workshops on job readiness and workplace skills, and providing vital post-secondary academic preparation counseling. Collaborating closely with families, educational institutions, and vocational partners, you'll expand work experience opportunities for youth within the Southwest Washington area. Additionally, you'll assess the unique needs of each student and develop tailored services to ensure their success. Your role as a regional resource will involve offering technical assistance and consultation to program participants, staff, and partners, ultimately contributing to the employment success of Blind, Deaf Blind, and Low Vision individuals in our community.
