>Basic Purpose:
>The Manager of Disability Services provides leadership for the Office
>of Disability Services in counseling and advising, reviewing
>assessments and securing services for students with disabilities;
>coordinating services within and outside of the College; consulting
>with faculty, staff, parents, and other stakeholders about the
>developmental, career, support, and mental health needs of students
>with disabilities; ensuring compliance with approved reasonable
>accommodations for all qualified students; conducting ADA & Section
>504 training and workshops; and facilitating accommodations for
>students with disabilities.
>
>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
>
>   *   Leads the department in providing reasonable accommodations and
>support services (academic advising, academic strategy development,
>resource referral) to students with disabilities. Provides oversight,
>planning, coordination, supervision, goal setting and evaluation of
>all aspects of the Disability Services office, including, but not
>limited to quantity and quality of services provided by staff;
>modification of program structure; and budget management.
>   *   Gathers and evaluates documentation to confirm eligibility for
>reasonable accommodations, in consultation with the student and with
>other college professionals when necessary. Determines eligibility for
>reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities and develops
>and implements a system to facilitate the delivery of support
>services. Provides one-on-one consultation for developmental learning
>strategies, study skills, self-determination, and self-advocacy.
>Provides referrals for academic advising, tutorial services, and other
>student support to appropriate college resources.
>   *   Develops and implements processes and procedures (e.g.
>proctoring, documentation review, assistive technology, accommodations
>determinations, etc.), in accordance with Section 504 and ADA (as
>amended) as well as in line with the College's mission and values, to
>address the needs of students with disabilities and to ensure
>consistent services across campuses. Assists in administering
>accommodated tests as needed.
>   *   Provides consultation and guidance to faculty, administrators,
>and support staff on accommodating and serving students with
>disabilities. Provides training for College employees on working with
>students with disabilities.
>   *   Provides guidance to high school counselors, teachers,
>administrators, potential students and their parents on preparing for
>and transitioning to college; acts as a liaison to community agencies
>that serve and refer students with disabilities to the college.
>Represent Disability Services at College sponsored events on and off
>campus.
>   *   Coordinates with Public Safety Office for emergency evacuation
>of students with mobility impairments. Ensures student needs are met
>at all campus locations.
>   *   Collects and maintains data on accommodations, services, and
>students' progress towards academic goals and degree completion, to
>evaluate effectiveness and inform continuous improvement for future
>planning for services and processes.
>   *   Performs other duties as assigned.

>Essential Knowledge and Skills:
>Education/Training/Work Experience:
>
>   *   Master's degree in Rehabilitative Counseling, Special Education,
>Counseling, Psychology, or other related areas.
>   *   Minimum of three years of experience in implementing effective
>strategies to provide reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
>   *   Counseling experience in an educational institution.
>   *   Experience working with students with disabilities in a higher
>education setting, reviewing disability-related documentation and
>determining accommodations.
>   *   A demonstrated understanding of the Americans with Disabilities
>Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as it relates to
>higher education.
>
>SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
>
>   *   Strong communication skills
>   *   Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
>   *   Knowledge of assessment as applied to educational settings,
>assistive technology, and legal considerations affecting students with
>disabilities (particularly the Americans with Disabilities Act)
>   *   Proven ability to work productively with faculty, students, and staff
