As a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist - Senior, your primary role
involves analyzing and assessing the adaptive skills of individuals
with Blindness, Deaf-Blindness, and Low Vision, focusing on their
activities of daily living and employment readiness. Serving as an
expert in Rehabilitation Teaching and Orientation & Mobility, you will
bring forth superior emerging technologies and training methods,
catering to both current and future participants and employers. Your
responsibilities extend to recommending and contributing to curriculum
development, implementing effective training methodologies, and
ensuring compliance with Section 508 and the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA). Beyond this, you will actively recruit,
evaluate, and manage vendors offering specialized adaptive
rehabilitation training. This position also includes the development
of program standards for Low Vision Evaluations, as well as the
monitoring and development of budgets for Low Vision Labs and Adaptive
Tools. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in providing
adaptive education to businesses, participants, community partners,
and employers, contributing to the creation of an inclusive and
accessible environment.

As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting

temporary role is expected to last until August 2024 or later,
depending on business need.

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 4 at DSB, your primary
objective is to empower and support individuals who are Blind, Deaf
Blind, and Low Vision, many of whom face additional disabilities, in

pivotal role, you will serve as a facilitator in identifying and
securing essential rehabilitation services to facilitate participants'
success in attaining independence and employment. You will collaborate
closely with a diverse team of professionals, working within a
multi-disciplinary vocational rehabilitation and independent living
framework to deliver comprehensive rehabilitation services to visually
impaired and blind adults. As a VRC4, your exceptional counseling
skills will shine as you adeptly address the unique rehabilitation
needs of your caseload. Additionally, you will play a vital role in
training other professional staff, both locally and at the statewide
level, as the need arises, contributing to the ongoing success of our
mission to promote independence and stable employment for individuals
with visual impairments.
