Hi everyone!!

Happy November and happy cooler weather!

 Our next Keystone Chapter meeting will be this Saturday on November 5, 2022, and held using a hybrid model, with an in-person and a virtual option. The meeting will begin at 10:15 a.m. Please see below for the directions to the Penn Museum and the Zoom lin for the meeting.

At this meeting we will discuss what is going on the national, state, and local levels of the NFB. We will talk about current legislation that will help the blind, discuss fundraising ideas, talk about upcoming events that you will want to be a part of, and share our experiences with one another.

Hand-made Ceramic Cups With Braille For Sale

The Keystone Chapter is selling hand-made ceramic cups with tactile braille on them. The sayings on the cups are Live the life you want, Believe you can!, and Blindness is not a barrier. The cups are a grayish blue. They make a nice gift for someone in your life. The cups are $10 each. 2022 State Convention In Pittsburgh
This year's State Convention is in Pittsburgh from November 10 through November 13. Register online at http://nfbp.org/convention/reg. Unfortunately, the hotel rooms at the Sheraton Station Hotel are all sold out. There are other hotel options nearby. If you are interested in taking the charter bus back from Pittsburgh on November 13, contact Harriet at (610) 931-9013 or GoHarriet00 at hotmail.com<mailto:GoHarriet00 at hotmail.com>. Cost is $50 and you can pay our treasurer David , at the November meeting or send a check made payable to Keystone Chapter NFB of PA and mail it to:

For this option, please pay $52.00 to cover the transaction other fees incurred by using the convenience of Paypal. All payments to reserve your seat on the charter bus must be submitted ASAP.

Inflation Buster Basket

At our state convention this year there will be an auction to help the affiliate (NFB of PA) raise some funds. For this event our chapter is putting a basket of gift cards and calling it the "Inflation Buster Basket". We definitely need your help for this.

Please consider donating a gift card or two to be included in this basket. If possible, each gift card should be at least $25 in value, and should be for a retailer that is nationwide, such as Target, Starbucks,Staples,  Macy’s, McDonald’s, Amazon, CVS Pharmacy, Home Depot, any Darden’s restaurant chains, Trader Joe’s etc.

There are at least 2 ways in which you could donate gift cards.

  1.  Take the attached letter to a national retailer near you and ask them to donate a gift card or several to be included in this auction basket.
  2.  Purchase a gift card or two yourself and donate directly to this basket.

To get your gift cards into the “Inflation Buster Basket”, please do one of the following.

  1.  Bring the gift cards with you to state convention and give it to me, or Stacie Leap
  2.  Bring the gift cards with you to the November 5, 2022 Keystone Chapter meeting and hand them to me so that I can bring them to the state convention.
  3.  Mail the gift cards to our treasurer, David Goldstein, by November 5, 2022 so that he can bring them with him to state convention. David's address is listed above.

Travel to the Penn Museum via SEPTA

Our new meeting location is the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, otherwise known as the Penn Museum. The museum is located at 3260 South Street in Philadelphia. It is accessible by SEPTA. The Penn Medicine Station is directly across the street from the museum and the following regional rail lines stop there, Airport Line, Manayunk/Norristown Line, Media/Elwyn Line, Warminster Line, West Trenton Line, and Wilmington/Newark Line. The following bus routes stop within a few blocks of the museum, 30, 40, 42, and 49. The following trolley lines stop near the museum, 11, 13, 34, and 36. The Market-Frankford line is also an option.
