Perkins Library Invites You to Our Solar Eclipse Watch Party!

Today: Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. There will not be another solar eclipse in this part of the world again until August 23rd, 2044, according to NASA. 

 

The Perkins Library will be hosting a special eclipse watch party over Zoom, the first of it's kind. 

 

-Beginning at 2:20 PM (EST) we will be broadcasting an audio description of the Solar eclipse from KOOP Radio in Austin Texas. 

 

-At 3:00 PM (EST) we will be sharing an interview with Allyson Bieryla (pronounced Ber-ill-a), Science Center Astronomy Lab and Telescope Manager at Harvard University. 

 

-From 3:20-3:40 PM (EST) we will be sharing the audio stream from one of the LightSound devices along with a live description from library staff in Watertown. 

 

-From 3:40-4:00 (EST) we will be sharing another interview with MaryKay Severino, Education Director, Co-Founder, and President of ARISA (Advanced Research in STEAM Accessibility Lab) to close out the program.
