[Md-sligo] OPM Final Ruling

On February 21, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued a final regulation pertaining to the appointment of persons with intellectual disabilities, severe physical disabilities, and psychiatric disabilities. The regulation removes an unnecessary burden for these individuals when applying for federal jobs and modernizes the terminology used to describe people with disabilities.

Under the revised policies, candidates no longer need to supply a "certification of job readiness," a formal written assessment that the person can be reasonably expected to perform in a particular work environment. Agencies will be able to hire using Schedule A Hiring Authority after determining that the person is "likely to succeed" in performing the duties of the position, a decision that can be based on any relevant work, educational or other experience.
