hello -
 it's been a long time.
i hope this list i'm writing to you guys can help some of you if not just 1 of you. basically, i hope it helps someone.

with that said, let's get started.
let's talk first about what I like to call DIY distribution.
what is DIY distribution? just like a DIY musician or a do it yourself musician the same applys here for DIY distribution.
this is the mottle i personally follow and it's what a lot of others follow as well.
now, what is it? what it is, think of sites such as reverbnation, myspace, youtube, and the like as distribution.
you are simply and affectively getting your music into the hands of the people.
here's the cool part now, if the people like it they will pass it on. so, there will be more people distributing your music around the web. making a buzz about you and your music. that's key. if you don't have a buzz then change what it is you're doing. if your buzz isn't as big as you would like it, promote, promote, and promote.
you can't just promote your music though to no one. you first have to find fans. you find fans by finding people who is interested in your genre or styles of music. you get to know that person, they check you out and enjoy what they hear and there you have it your first fan. that fan might tell others and there's your new fan but usually you'll have to keep up the promotions and marketing. it's hard to get on the radio but if you can do that you are doing something. and it's a great feeling of joy, ecomplishments, and it makes you want to work harder.
i work on this entire thing every day. i've worked with radio stations, A&R's, and the like.
 now, here's the other choice.
paying for distribution. they can take care of a lot of that but you're still going to have to find fans. it's always a good idea not to just rely on your distribution company. it's a good idea to put in the hours yourself. i can't speek much as to paying for a distribution company as i personally don't like the idea of ceperating with money that i don't have. lol.
 anyway, hope this helps.
