[musictlk] flutes, and "virtual choir" CDs

Hi, all!

I've been reading the posts about flutes, and someday in the distant
future, would like to take them up (by ear) as well. If anyone is,
like me,  a fan of the Moody Blues, what kind of flute did Ray Thomas
used to play?--that's the one I'd like to aim for. What is the price
range for various flutes?

Secondly: a longtime member of a community chorus that has sung
anything from PDQ Bach to (right now) Haydn'sHasler's "Cantage
Domino," I'm wondering if there's any way for a totally blind person
to make "virtual choir" CDs, at a cost that won't kill me! The Hasler,
in particular, was pretty hard to "get" because the parts all
intertwine, and were so similar in style that, particularly as a
beginner at the piece, it was hard to discern who should be doing
what! Had I had a CD where the 1st soprano part stuck way out in the
context of the other parts (I'm a contextual learner, so just having
my own voice part with none of the others wouldn't accelerate the
process), I could have nailed it earlier. Concert is Jan. 18th, and
I'm about 80 percent "there," but for difficult pieces in the future,
it would be nice to find out if I could make my own CDs. Thanks!
