[nabop] office tasks and paperwork

Have you contacted any state agency in your state that assists with the blind or visually impaired? If you know braille, you can mark mailboxes or files with braille in places where it isn't visible. Or you can use large raised print labels where you can't get to with a magnifier. there are electronic magnifiers available now that maybe your state agency will provide for you. There may be other agencies such as a Lions club that may help financially for these items. Or your state may have an agency that provides equipment on loan until you can get your own. There are felt-tipped pens that write a thicker line if you need to use larger writing for labeling purposes. How are your computer skills for data entry work? You didn't give much information in your email. Good luck.

 Hi all,

Well, I’m still looking for employment. Most jobs ask for
more experience than I have; in other words, not much entry
 level options.

Anyway, it seems to me that entry level work is more
paperwork driven and data driven requiring you to see the
 information.

I have some vision so might investigate using a magnifier
for reading mail to sort it.

Have any of you done these sort of tasks?
Most jobs require these duties in one form or another.

 scheduling appointments
 Entering information in databases
 sorting and distributing mail
 filing
 copying
 scanning

I can see how I’d make some accomodations. I’d label the
mailboxes or areas where I need to deliver mail. I’d also
 label the files.
Due to software accessibility, I’d imagine scheduling
appointments and data entry would be challenging or
 impossible.

Any ideas or thoughts are welcome.

 Ashley
