[nabs-l] New Board

Hi all,
I would just like to take a moment to congratulate the newly elected
NABS board. I would also like to thank all those who helped to make
our student division seminar and business meeting a success: all the
members of the former NABS board for their help with registration,
election management, and door prizes, and all those volunteers who
assisted with marshalling and vote counting. Your assistance was
invaluable in allowing me to focus on chairing the seminar and
election process without having to redirect my attention to these
details. While the elections took a long time with many candidates
running and several counted contests, I believe they were conducted in
a fair and organized fashion, and I can attribute this to the
competence of all those who worked together to count votes. If you
have feedback about the elections process or how it can be improved in
the future, I would encourage you to direct this feedback to our new
president, Sean Whalen, or to others on the new board.
Finally, I want to acknowledge those of you who ran for positions on
the NABS board and were not elected. There were quite a few of you,
and without naming names, I will say that I know many of you
personally and believe you have a lot to offer the student division in
terms of ideas and service. I sincerely hope that all of you who ran
for the NABS board will lend us your service on NABS committees, offer
to organize new NABS committees or activities, and continue to serve
as leaders in your state student divisions.
I wish the best of luck to the next NABS board. As past president, I
will not meddle in the affairs of the new board, but I am always
available to offer advice or assistance if you ask for it.
