[nabs-l] food courts and counter restaurants

While I do help in other ways, I still feel awkward about going up to a busy
stranger asking for help although I do it.
Keep in mind what they are doing. They are ordering their food probably on
a lunch break and if they are not working, they probably want a quick bite
to go elsewhere. After all, if they're not in a hurry, they may as well have
gone to a sit down restaurant.
They have kids or husbands to meet at the table; if eating there, they want
to run to a table just as everyone else does as space is limited.
So, its just that I feel I'm intruding; sometimes they say they are in a
hurry or turn to someone else and say "can you help that girl?" I don't
mind; after all, they need to get on to eat and cannot help me but find
someone who can. One thing I try to do is listen for the drink area and
move to this counter and get help there. After all everyone is filling their
cups there and might be able to help me more easily. After people pay, they
are running off to a table.

Any tips on finding seats? I usually just look for them and listen for
people; if I hear people at a table, I do not head there. If someone wants
to either carry my tray or guide me to a table, I gladly take it since I
just want to sit down, not wander around looking for a seat while my food
gets cold.
How do you find your table if you have to fetch your food at the counter
when its ready? I guess I'd use a landmark to find my table and count
tables.

Thanks, Carly. But, I would even say our chances to help others are more
than just few. Everyone has talents and knowledge and we are responsible
for using them to help ourselves and others just like anyone else.
