[nabs-l] Preparing to attend an Nfb Training Center

This is a good question, one that menu people here who have had experience making that decision would probably not mind helping you to answer.
A couple of good things to do might be to first talk to some folks who have gone to some of the centers.
There are people on this list who have gone to all three centers, and I am more than happy to point you in the direction of some folks if you don't know of any yourself.
I would definitely reach out to the directors of the training centers. They are all real nice folksand are happy to answer any questions you might have.

Remember that all of our centers teach you that is respectable to be blind, and that you can truly compete on terms of equality with your sighted peers so log as you have the right skills and attitude. They might not teach it in the exact same way, but, you will get a great deal out of it if you put your best effort into the training.
   I hope that helps.
  Best,

  Darian

If not, start looking at which one would be best for you. If you do then which one is it and Im sure the staff at te center will answer the question of how to prepare, also finding people that have gone to that center can tell you what they did to prepare. I think the best person to ask would be the director or some staff from that particular center.

>>> Hello everybody, I am actually preparing to attend the Colorado Center for the blind starting in August! Go, Denver! :-) Here's What happens first, I talked to my vocational rehabilitation counselor about why I needed training at an NFB training center. Of course, I also talked to my parents LOL! I am actually in the midst of the next process right now, trying to get all the appropriate paperwork filled out. Then I should be set to start up there in August, and I really can't wait to return to one of my favorite destinations! I have attended both the middle school and high school programs through the Colorado Center for the blind, and would strongly recommend it! I cannot speak for the Louisiana Center for the blind or blind Inc. in Maryland, I have not had any experience with those.
