I have applied for SSI. The process is not fast at all. I went to the office, but the web forms are supposedly quite accessible. Just make sure you request your letters in Braille or in whatever format you need because this will be important when it comes to finding out the status of your case.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
