[nagdu] a bizaare question

Good point. You're probably right, too, because when my husband calls him or
trys to give him a command it's not with authority and the dog just ignores
him most of the time. He's pretty much a one-person dog, too, so that
probably doesn't help much. When I had surgery a couple of months ago, my
husband had to take care of him for a while and I had to practically go out
the door with the dog much of the time to get him to go out to relieve.
Once he was out he was okay, but I had to be a part of it. Now, dinner,
that's another story, he had no problem letting my husband feed him dinner,
he's does his breed, black lab, proud when it comes to eating. He can put
away food with the best of them!

I think that some of this moving out of the way has to do with whoever the
dominant person is. I've heard that if you step around the dog, then that
can give them the impression that they're in charge. If however you move the
dog out of the way or prompt them to get up, then you're communicating that
you're in charge. Perhaps this plays into your dog not moving out of your
husband's way.
