Hello,
As far as words, I talk to my dog all of the time.
when he is focused on me, then I know he will do as I ask.
I say things like,
"be gentle with me.
this means to him he can't go fast down the stairs.
He has to switch to the rite side when the rail is on the left.
so he will balance me going down the stairs.
Now if you were asking a command, then stick to the command.
Down Sit stay or rest or anything like that.
Be firm with it and mean it.
then make them obey it.
so they learn who top dog is.
Of course top dog is you.
