Peter,

I don't "sit around and wait for hand outs" either.

However, as I recall, you became quite upset when you were required to  
pay for a second seat when you flew.  Yet, you are totally willing to  
suggest that I pay for an interpreter?  How is this different.

I have been very flexible, using captioners when available, using  
interpreters when I can.
Sometimes, like in the exhibit hall, using a captioner is impractical  
because I am walking, my captioner is walking, and we need to carry  
keyboard and braille display.  Using an interpreter in this situation  
is a better way.

Finally I resent the implication that I am "asking for a handout."
I am asking for the same access to the same material everyone else  
gets.  Just as blind people ask for braille materials, or the right to  
cast a secret vote, or to have their guide dog with them in public.

I am sorry to have strayed so far from the topic of guide dogs, and  
will refrain from posting further on this topic.

I am willing to work with the national leadership to assist them in  
providing communication assistance to Deafblind attendees.
