[nagdu] Interesting Names Re: guide dog book about young person

When I first got Gucci in training, I was worried that I couldn't
pronounce the hard G in her name. I've had some minor pronnunciation
issues wiht some letters, including G, which people have commented on
to me through the years. When I said her name to my trainer several
times over the next day or so, he said that he could understand me
just fine. He did suggest an alternative, of Lucy, which sounded like
Gucci, but by that time Gucci the name and the dog had grown on me a
little and I was starting to like the name. Of course, now when people
I'm comfortable with ask her name and I tell them, many of them still
have trouble understanding that hard G. I figure though that as long
as Gucci the dog understands me, then I've got nothing to worry about.
So I suppose a name change could happen in training, but it would
probably need to sound similar to the dog's actual name, like gucci
and Lucy. In hindsight though, I'm glad I didn't change her name to
Lucy; I'm not sure I could have lived with all the plays on words with
Lucy over Gucci. Besides, Gucci fits more of her behaviors and habits
of laying, since she looks like an upper class dog, or a dog with
style. For instance, often, when laying on her stomach, she will turn
her head to one side and rest it on that side's front leg. I'm told
that when this happens, that she looks very regal.
