Hi Tami
If  you plan on using a cane, you may still have problems.  At an 
airport, I was not allowed to take my plastic mini nonmetal cane through 
the detection area, they had to scan it.  They gave me a thick, short 
walking useless cane to use .   I imagine if I had a dog I could have 
called  him to me and went on, but they didn't even return my cane until 
I was way past the scanner.  My husband was focusing on himself so I was 
basically on my own.
