[nagdu] Motorized wheelchairs and scooters

How do guide dog teams manage with people in stores flying down the isle 
in their motorized wheelchairs or scooters?  A former co-worker had a 
scooter that was so quiet I could not hear it coming or backing up.  My 
husband has almost been taken out by a motorized vehicle in stores on 
more than one occasion and he is sighted.  At least if they hit my cane 
there is no injury.

Toyota and other quiet cars are problematic on the street, but it seems 
as serious for speedy vehicles in stores.  Any thoughts on how this is 
handled by guide dog teams and cane users for that matter?
