Sean,

I was thinking about what I said and how you are getting different 
answers.  I think I left out an important detail.  I had my surgery in 
an outpatient surgery center, not a hospital.  The recovery area was not 
patients only as it is in a traditional hospital setting.  My husband 
was allowed to be there.   When I left the recovery area I went home, 
not to a hospital room.
