[nagdu] guide dogs and gps

Hi Rebecca:

I'm slowly getting out of date but I use mobile geo which is a program that
was produced by code factory for the windows mobile platform. Now this
platform is a dead one so I will eventually have to decide what to use next.
I'm a big believer in finding a solution that works on my cell phone so I
don't end up having to carry a bunch of things around. I'm using an older
pda called a htc tytn 2 where I can listen to music/books, use my gps
program, and use pocket office products. Basically when my phone stops
working (or when my contract comes due) I'll have to consider if I'll move
to the I phone or try out a google android phone. Code Factory has a program
that works on android phones but I haven't heard of a gps solution yet.

When I'm walking I often have an ear bud in one ear with the gps reading
things at a fairly quiet level but loud enough to be heard. It is a great
tool. Mostly I have it on so I can hear the street names as ai walk around
but I do also use it to find restaurants and other such things.

Gary

Subject: [nagdu] guide dogs and gps

hi everyone. Do any of you use a gps with your guide dog? If so which
one do you use and how has it helped you in your travels? I'm on the
market for one of these devices.
