I know of several people who are using Giants for their guide or sd.   
They seem to be very happy with them.  Schnauzers tend to need a lot  
of work and are active, high-drive dogs.  Much like a poodle, smile.   
You also want to look into the Portuguese Water Dog as they have  
hair.  They are smaller-- about 50 lbs for bitches, but they are great  
dogs.
