Unbelievable.
That in a way still sucked.
(Excuse my language)
Am not sure if you remember Jenine, but back in 2007, Odie came close to
destroying another guide dog that kept repeatedly getting up in his face in
the GDUI Suite.
Despite that I politely asked the other guide dog handler to get his dog
under control ahd place the dog in front of him that his dog was causing a
problem, his attitude was, "What's the problem?"
Although I explained what was happening, he really didn't care as it was
obvious his guide dog was about to get torn up really bad.
When the other guide dog still kept bugging Odie, I finally had to remove
ourselves from the area of where the nuisance guide dog and handler were
which happened to be at one of the tables which was set up in the Suite.
Since Steve Hoyt from Pilot was there, I told him what had happened upon
letting him know that I just removed both Odie and myself from that area
which he told me that was the best route and course of action to take.
It really gets me angry when people don't take things like that serious,
especially if their dogs are out of hand.
Honestly, it's not the fault of the dog, but more of the user on that end.
One tactic I've also come up with in the past was to ask Odie, "What are you
doing?"
I then would touch him to see if he was still next to me on the left hand
side.
If not, I'd immediately tell him stay close to mommy and that always seemed
to solve the problem and also stopped him from doing something he should not
be doing.
I've also been to a NAGDU convention with Orleans and have seen similar
things happen as well.
