Hi, Robert H,
I'll have to tell you what Odie did one time when he was wearing his gentle 
leader.
There was such a day that after I finished relieving him upon taking the bus 
down to 17th and Champa here in downtown Denver, Colorado, he suddenly 
wouldn't move.
He kept looking back at me.
I then realized I forgot to reconnect the leash to the D ring on the gentle 
leader.
In his own way, Odie was saying, "UH, Mommy? Are you feeling me?"
He was definitel a smart labra wolf that day to remind me to be paying 
attention.
As for the clips directly on the GL, they're known as back pack like 
fasteners.
