[nagdu] question for those who have had children

My hospital experience when my son was born was rather unpleasant. I wasn't
a guide dog user then, but I think that would have made the whole event that
much more complicated. It was 14 years ago now and much has changed I'm
sure. I'm not planning on any more kids, but if I were I would leave the
dog at home and have my husband call a prearranged person to go take care of
things while I was at the hospital.

Things tend to go very quickly with very little time for contemplation of
decisions. If something unexpected happened I'd not want to have to think
about my dog, if I could think at all. Even if everything goes exactly
according to plan, which it won't, it's still a lot of work. I've heard
childbirth equated with running a marathon. I'd tend to agree. For me the
last thing I'd want to do was care for my dog afterward.

but all that is just me. What really matters is what you are comfortable
with and what you want to do.

Best of luck!
Julie
