Hi Everyone:
What happened to this man was certainly unfortunate. But a few things
jump out at me in this article. The article boasts about this man's
many titles; He's the head of this blindness organization and that
one... Why wouldn't he be able to use a cane? Correct me if I'm wrong,
but aren't we all required to demonstrate sufficient cane travel before
we're able to get a guide dog? Perhaps it's different in other
countries? In any case, I'm not saying it is easy to navigate a
foreign country alone, and I am not trying to suggest that everyone has
the same level of independence, but this article is making it look like
it was solely the conductor's responsibility to get this man off the
train. But in my oppinionn, if you're going to travel alone and
especially if you represent an organization of blind people, you should
probably be a little more familiar with your resources at hand, such as
a cane, instead of relying on strangers to always help out. Just my two sense.
Cheers
Bernadetta.
