A Myrtle Beach restaurant owner has been arrested after police said he
refused to allow a service dog inside his business, according to a police
report.

Hrachya Avagyan, 28, was charged with disabled/unlawful to interfere with
rights of blind/disabled persons after officers were called about 7:45 p.m.
Monday to Seafood World at 411 N. Kings Highway, police said. Avagyan
remained jailed Tuesday morning.

A 53-year-old woman called police after she said she was denied service by
Avagyan because she had a service dog, according to the report. The woman
said Avagyan told her the restaurant is private property and he does not
allow dogs inside the business.

The woman said she tried to explain the law to the man and tried to show him
her certification for the dog, according to the report. Officers noted the
dog wore a service animal vest that had an identification card in it.

with this article....the dude was wrong! But....I am severely allergic to
dogs, like extreme sneezing then wheezing....need an inhaler allergic. If
I'm eating at a restaurant and a disabled person brings their dog in should
I no longer have the right to eat there.....I should have some expectation
that when I go out to eat there won't be animals in the restaurant. Why are
their rights put ahead of mine. I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to
have their dog, I think they should, I would just as soon get up and leave.
I'm just providing another view. I do get highly ticked when I go to the
post office in particular and people think they need to bring their ugly
rodent looking small dog in.....but that's another story. Animal allergies
for some of us are no joke.

NEK 2 comments collapsed Collapse Expand I wonder if he has already been
bailed out of jail, and if so was he bailed out by the:

1. Surfside Beach Mayor

2. Surfside Beach Council, or

3. Surfside Beach Rental Agent for Pier Restaurant.

I'm betting that one of the above is already thinking we can bail him out
Tuesday morning and announce him as the new pier restaurant renter by
Tuesday night, with no background or credit check needed :)

mark a hall 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand The elephant in the room is
the fact middle eastern men look down on women

Whether they can see or not. She patronized the business and was asked to
leave

Because of the dog and she stood her ground and he lost his mind, now he is
learning the

Hard way that woman have the power and our laws on disability's are very
serious. Not to

Mention the hit on his business. I say this will cost him lots. Probably
his whole business. Not to mention Myrtle Beach Police dont play.

IHAVEAVOICE 1 comment collapsed Collapse Expand There is NO excuse for this
type of behavior. Is his business doing so well that he has the luxury of
alienating a vital sector of our community? On behalf of locals of the
Grand Strand I would like to extend our apologies to the victim in this case
and assure her that this is not a standard practice of course, I suspect
this business person isn't exactly a local himself...
