All adjustments have conflict. It's part of a transition. Know yourself, know your family and decide from there.

Hi getting or not getting a dog is not always an easy choice to make. For me the timing had to be right. I wasn't ready when my son was little but when he became a teen it seemed more right. Families don't always agree on the decision of getting a dog so ultimately the choice needs to be yours to make based on what you need and want as well as your living situation and if at home with family if the adjustment can be made without conflict or interference with you and the dog. Also, try to remember, that most concern is well meant and I know from experience that isn't always easy.
